St. John of Gods, Barretstown, Barnardos, Irish Cancer Society

St John of Gods – Liffey Valley Services – Celbridge
“Promote and support people with intellectual disabilities to live in the community”.
Job : Art – to assist to assist an individual service user to do art. Maybe organise a trip
to a museum.
Skills : A background and interest in Art
Time : 2 hrs per week/fortnight.

Job : Drama – to work with a member of staff to assist in the delivery of facillative drama.
Skills : An interest in drama
Time : 1 ½ hrs per week/fortnight.

Job : Bowling – to assist a group of service users in playing bowling.
Skills : To enjoy bowling, be creative around devising bowling competitions. Sense of fun.
Time : 2 ½ hrs per week/fortnight.

Job : Cookery – to explain and teach cookery skills to individuals living in a community
Skills : Patience, creative, good communication and cookery skills.
Time : 1 hr per week

Barretstown Gang
Barretstown is currently looking for volunteers to work with children with cancer and other serious illnesses. The children take part in activities such as horse riding, drama and canoeing in a programme designed to increase their self confidence after long stays in hospital.
Volunteers encourage and support the children in all their activities, while making sure they're safe and supervised at all times. Most importantly you'll help them have fun!
Training is provided and the programme is residential.
Volunteers need to be available from Friday to Sunday for spring and autumn camps and for 11 days (including training) for summer camps.
Volunteers must be aged over 18 (there's no upper age limit!), they come from all walks of life and must have good interpersonal skills.

Barnardos supports children whose well-being is under threat, by working with them, their families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children.

Job : Telephone fundraising volunteer.
Description : To contact potential funders about a new Barnardos project and setting up
meetings between funders and Barnardos.
Location : Merchants Quay, Dublin
Skills : Sales background. Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
Time : Time limited. 2-3 mornings a week for a period of 3 weeks.

Job : Helpline Volunteers for Bereavement Counselling Service
To offer a listening and information service to callers to the service
Skills : Would suit mature people who have a caring disposition, good listening and
Communication skills and an ability to engage with callers around
Bereavement issues.
Support : Training and support given.
Time : 1 morning per week plus attendance at monthly team training.

Irish Cancer Society
The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity for cancer care, dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem and to improving the lives of those living with cancer.

Job : Daffodil Day Sellers - Selling daffodils and daffodil merchandise in aid of
Daffodil Day at organised selling points throughout Ireland.
Skills : Honest, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic
Time : 3/4 hrs shift on Friday 23rd March
