Placement Officer based in Clondalkin

Job Description
Reports to: South Dublin County Volunteer Centre Manager

§    To recruit volunteers and match them to opportunities and support them in their volunteering roles;
§    To work with voluntary and community groups to ensure that there are a variety of identified roles available for volunteers to participate in;
§    To support the Manager with the implementation of the Board’s work plan.

Key areas of work:
§    Promote volunteering across the local community served by the Clondalkin office
§    Recruit volunteers for a variety of tasks and roles
§    Establish the needs of registered volunteers and provide them with necessary supports to secure satisfactory placement
§    Build relationship with voluntary and community organisations to ensure that a wide range of volunteering opportunities are registered with the Centre
§    Provide advice and assistance to organisations wishing to recruit volunteers
§    Identify, promote and implement a range of corporate challenges
§    Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteers and volunteering opportunities
§    Keep accurate and methodical records relating to volunteering and volunteering opportunities
§    In conjunction with the Volunteer Centre training services manager, recruit organisations to participate in the volunteer centre training program, thereby increasing their capacity to recruit and retain volunteers.
§    Such other duties which do not change the nature of the post, as may be determined by the Centre manager / board.

Place of Work
The successful candidate will be based in our Clondalkin Office. There will also be significant out of office work in the target area.

Hours of Work
35 hours per week – Some out of office hours will be required

Length of Contract
Initially one year and is subject to funding

Person Specification
§    Commitment to the concept of volunteering and objectives of the post
§    Ability to work with a wide range of individuals and organisations
§    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
§    Ability to network effectively between different organisations
§    Ability to advise, inform, motivate and support individuals and organisations
§    Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
§    Accurate and methodological approach
§    Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills
§    Experience of local voluntary and community sector
§    Enthusiasm and drive, friendliness and approachability
§    Willingness to work alongside volunteers
§    Self-motivated
§    Full, clean driving licence
§    Flexibility
